Kristin Young, MSW, LSW (she/her) is a queer, licensed social worker. She offers a safe and non-judgmental environment to the individuals and families that she serves. With her clients, Kristin utilizes a holistic, strength-based, and person-centered approach. This approach focuses on each individual’s unique strengths and self-determination.
Kristin uses evidence-based interventions for her clients, which include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices. She provides her clients with a supportive space so they can begin their journey of personal reflection and healing.
Some of the key tenets of the client-based therapeutic approach that she offers to her clients are providing them with unconditional positive regard, congruence, and empathy. As a member of the LGBTQI+ community, Kristin has a distinct understanding of the hardships that her peers often face when it comes to self-identifying and questions about sexuality.
Kristin graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University School of Social Work. She is a member of the National Association of Social Work (NASW) and was inducted into the Phi Alpha honor society. She is also certified in TF-CBT.
When she’s not working, Kristin enjoys being a “dog mom”, reading fictional novels, and spending time with her family. She can also cook a mean chili.
