Growth Over Perfection
It is not about being perfect; it’s about being willing to grow. Taking the first step into self-exploration is a courageous act, and I am here to walk that path with you. My primary commitment is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients of all ages feel truly seen, heard, and understood.
Creating Secure Bonds: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
A cornerstone of my practice is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I believe that at our core, we all have a fundamental need for secure, safe connections. Whether I am working with couples or families, I utilize EFT to help partners move past the “cycles of armor” and defenses that lead to conflict. Together, we work to identify the underlying attachment needs that drive our reactions, helping you build a relationship where you can finally let your guard down and feel truly supported.
A Deep Understanding of the Human Experience
With an MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College and an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, my background offers a unique vantage point on the complexities of human behavior. With over two decades of real-world experience, I am uniquely equipped to handle “intense” emotional landscapes. I offer affirming and informed support for:
-
Couples & Families: Navigating high-conflict cycles, attachment wounds, and parenting struggles using EFT.
-
The LGBTQIA+ Community: Providing a secure, validating space to explore identity, relationship dynamics, and minority stress.
-
Justice-Involved Individuals: Offering specialized support for those navigating the complexities of the legal system and personal rehabilitation.
-
Emotional Regulation: Helping clients manage anger, anxiety, depression, and the “big emotions” that can feel overwhelming.
My Integrative Approach
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, blending the relational depth of EFT with the practical, mindfulness-based tools of DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). Whether we are untangling past trauma or developing social skills for the future, our work is always a partnership.
Areas of Expertise:
-
Relational Healing: Using EFT to foster secure attachment in couples and families.
-
Trauma & Loss: Healing from past experiences and life transitions.
-
Complex Identity Work: Supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals and those exploring self-esteem.
-
Justice Involvement: Navigating the psychological impact of legal and forensic challenges.
-
Personality Disorders & Anger Management: Providing stability and regulation for intense emotional states.
Academic & Clinical Background
My academic journey has been driven by a fascination with why we do what we do. By combining my forensic insights with clinical counseling, I help clients look beneath the surface of their behaviors to find the path toward resilience and positive change.
Beyond the therapy room, I am a lifelong learner who enjoys traveling to experience new cultures, boating, and getting lost in a good book. I bring that same curiosity and grounded energy to every session.
