Barbara Chase, MSW, LCSW
Nurturing Wellness Through Every Life Transition.
Hi, I’m Barbara Chase. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I offer a compassionate, client-centered space to support children, adults, and families through life’s unique challenges, including the transformative journey of parenthood.
With over five years of diverse experience in mental health settings—from after-school programs and group homes to psychiatric hospitals and schools—I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families through a vast number of experiences and complex dynamics. My approach is always client-centered and strengths-based, focusing on your inherent capabilities and what truly matters to you.
Compassionate Care for Children, Adults & Families
My broad experience allows me to effectively work with children, teens, adults, and families facing various concerns. I’m especially skilled at helping clients navigate:
- Anxiety: Developing practical tools to manage worry and find greater calm.
- Behavioral Challenges & Emotional Regulation: Supporting children and teens in understanding and managing their emotions and behaviors.
- Grief and Loss: Providing a compassionate space to process difficult emotions and find pathways to healing.
- Life Transitions & Stress: Guiding you through significant changes, whether it’s school, career, relationships, or major life shifts.
- Neurodiverse Individuals and Families: Providing affirming support that celebrates unique ways of thinking, processing, and interacting, while empowering individuals to thrive authentically and navigate challenges.
- Parent Coaching: Empowering parents with strategies to foster healthy family dynamics and address behavioral and developmental concerns.
Supporting You Through Perinatal & Parental Journeys
I hold a deep understanding and personal empathy for the unique emotional landscape of pregnancy and early parenthood. Having personally navigated challenges like borderline preeclampsia, postpartum depression (including managing psychiatric medications for treatment), difficulties with breastfeeding, and periods of minimal family support, I know firsthand how overwhelming and isolating these experiences can feel.
I’ve also experienced the incredible power of mother-to-mother breastfeeding support, which deeply informs my practice. I’m here to support you through:
- Perinatal mental health challenges: Offering a safe space to process and cope with anxiety and depression during pregnancy and postpartum.
- The emotional impact of physical health issues: Particularly during pregnancy and postpartum, understanding how conditions like preeclampsia can affect your mental well-being.
- Parenting transitions: Helping you adjust to new roles, emotional intensities, and the demands of parenthood.
- Breastfeeding difficulties: Providing a non-judgmental space to discuss challenges and explore coping strategies.
- Building your support system: Working together to identify and strengthen your network, helping you feel more connected and less alone.
My goal is to help you feel seen, understood, and empowered as you navigate these profound life changes.
My Journey & Life Beyond Sessions
My diverse career in various settings, including my current role as a School Social Worker in a private behavioral school, has provided me with extensive exposure to a vast number of diagnoses, client backgrounds, and complex family dynamics. This rich experience allows me to approach each client with a comprehensive and tailored understanding.
When I’m not in session, you’ll find me enjoying precious time with my son, our two rescue dogs, family, and friends. I also love exploring the world through music, connecting with nature, and finding peace in gardening.
