Center for Counseling and Education offers a high-quality and competitive internship program.  We love this program because it fulfills our mission of providing excellent training for therapists and serving our communities.  Our interns come to us with relevant experience, passion, and an outstanding record.  They are willing to go above and beyond in their learning to ensure they offer the most effective mental health services.  

CFCE Interns receive a minimum of three hours a week of intensive supervision. Their supervisors are involved in the treatment planning for each of their clients. Interns have access to many different specialists within CFCE and consultation opportunities for various modalities including EMDR, ERP, and Play Therapy. Our supervisors are expert therapists with a tremendous devotion to their clients and supervisees.

Rachel Chmelko, Counseling Intern

Rachel Chmelko (she/her/hers) is a Masters in Counseling student at Arcadia University. Rachel is passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families who are struggling and feel stuck on how to move through it. She believes in using a warm, client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally thoughtful approach to help each client feel safe to explore and hopefully more deeply understand themselves and the situation they find themselves in. And from there, to view and approach them in new ways. 

Hannah Lee, Social Work Intern

Hannah Lee is an MSW Graduate Student at Simmons University who has worked with children, adolescents, and their families for over ten years in their previous role as a librarian. They hold space in their sessions for openness, personal expression, and authenticity. Their work is rooted is empowering the individual to recognize the unique gifts that allow them to achieve success.

Lelan Lockwood-Maldonado, Counseling Intern

Lelan Lockwood-Maldonado joins CFCE as a graduate student from The College of New Jersey. Lelan is dedicated to creating a safe, judgment-free environment where children, teens, young adults, and families can be active participants in their therapeutic journeys.

Chloe Rivas, Counseling Intern

Chloe Rivas is an MSW Graduate Student at Rutgers University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Florida International University. She is deeply passionate about aiding children, teens, families, and adults. She is committed to providing compassionate and effective therapy, and supporting the holistic well-being of every individual and family she works with.
