Susan Speas
Healing happens in connection. Let’s start there.
You don’t have to navigate life’s hurdles alone. Whether you are a parent watching your child struggle, a teen overwhelmed by the pressures of school or peers, or an adult seeking a greater sense of internal harmony and balance, the path to restoration begins with being truly seen and understood. I believe that the most powerful tool for change is a healthy, nurturing relationship; therefore, my mission is to provide the safe harbor you need to reconnect with your resilient, capable self.
Why Work With Me?
With over 30 years of experience as an educator and school counselor, I bring a realistic, highly trained perspective to the therapeutic setting. I’ve spent decades in the trenches with middle schoolers and high school students, assisting them and their families navigate various complexities, including:
-
School & Academic Stress: Social anxiety, school avoidance, and learning differences.
-
Identity & Growth: Supporting individuals from diverse cultures and communities, including those identifying as LGBTQIA+, as well as those navigating relational issues and the challenges of young adulthood.
-
Emotional Regulation: Managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, divorce, grief, and the fallout of bullying.
A Toolkit Tailored to You
You are a unique and extraordinary individual, and you deserve to be treated as such. Accordingly, I blend clinical expertise with a warm, collaborative spirit to meet you where you are:
- For Children & Tweens: I use Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy, allowing children to express themselves and heal through their most natural language.
-
For Teens & Adults: I draw from CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and parts work to provide practical tools for managing life’s challenges.
-
For the Whole Family: I provide Parent Coaching to help bridge the gap between home life and emotional well-being.
Foundations & Connection
I hold an Ed.S. in Counseling Services from Rider University, an M.A. from Rowan, and a B.A. from Rutgers. As a lifelong learner, I am passionate about education and personal growth, embracing the wisdom and understanding behind the saying, “we do better when we know better.” In my downtime, I enjoy road trips, kayaking, hiking, Wordle, puzzles, sunsets, waterfalls, cake, celebrating the little things, and, more than anything, spending time with my family and friends.
Let’s connect and start the path toward healing together. I would be honored to walk by your side.
