Equip yourself with the creative tools necessary to support bereaved children. This workshop offers a deep dive into play therapy interventions that address the unique developmental needs of grieving youth. Participants will leave with 5 core objectives met, a manual of clinical scripts, and the confidence to facilitate healing through the power of play.

Leave with:

  • 5 CEU Hours

  • A “Hard Questions” Script Cheat-Sheet

  • Hands-on Practice with Sand Tray & Art Interventions

  • Clinician Self-Care Reflection Guide

Learning Objectives:

1. Differentiate between age-appropriate grief responses and “complicated grief” across three distinct developmental stages (preschool, school-age, and adolescent).
2. Apply the concept of “Continuing Bonds” by facilitating one play-based intervention that helps children integrate the deceased into their current lives.
3. Demonstrate the use of externalization techniques to help children regulate intense emotions like anger and guilt.
4. Identify five specific categories of toys/miniatures essential for a “grief-ready” play therapy room.
5. Formulate developmentally honest, non-traumatizing responses to common “tough questions” asked by grieving children regarding death and finality.
