Lelan Lockwood-Maldonado
Lelan Lockwood-Maldonado joins CFCE as a graduate student from The College of New Jersey. Lelan is dedicated to creating a safe, judgment-free environment where children, teens, young adults, and families can be active participants in their therapeutic journeys. She believes in client-centered approaches where people feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout the counseling process.
Lelan earned a B.A. in Psychology from The College of New Jersey and also completed coursework in Early Childhood Education. Lelan has extensive experience volunteering at schools and community centers, both in the U.S. and in international settings. She also has personal and professional experience working with adoptees through her education and volunteer work. Lelan is passionate about practicing therapy with multicultural sensitivity and cultivating curiosity with her clients.
Lelan has received training in Sand Tray Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), trauma-informed approaches, and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) through CFCE. She values giving clients space to explore their thoughts and emotions in order to create meaning that can equip them in reaching their goals.
In her free time, Lelan enjoys playing with her dog, spending time with friends and family, and reading.
