Nicole Walters
Nicole Walters, MA, LAC (she/her)
Hello! I’m Nicole and my journey to this field started with a fascination in human strengths, including our innate ability to grow, be curious, and lead with love & connection. Personal experiences have also shaped my desire to learn how to live a life where I feel safe and regulated. For a person to make changes in their life, I believe there needs to be a foundation of felt safety and connection with one’s self and their community. As a therapist, I feel privileged and grateful to be invited to join your steps to healing.
In my sessions, I like to create an energetic, gentle, and accepting vibe so that you can feel safe with me.
I practice with a trauma-informed, strengths-based, empathetic approach, and I am genuinely dedicated to the well-being of others. This helps me connect with you right where you are each time we meet.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Supporting kids going through divorce is close to my heart, and I also specialize in treating Anxiety, OCD, Grief/Loss, and Trauma. I love working on mindfulness, and movement-based strategies, and will use creativity to work collaboratively with you to find strategies that best fit you.
Before I joined CFCE, I worked with children and adult clients in non-profit organizations in and around Philadelphia. I’ve also worked hard academically to develop a strong multicultural lens, having earned my Master of Arts Degree in Counseling (Trauma focus) from Arcadia University, and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from West Chester University.
I’ve completed additional training in Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, Play Therapy, Sandtray, and Emotional Focused Therapy for Families (EFFT), and I’ve co-facilitated our CHILL program which strengthened my tools in working with children using expressive arts and skill-building exercises.
Something important I’ve learned in this work is that growth and healing are not a linear experience, and there are ups and downs every week. Humor and laughter often help us “roll with it”; and I love finding joy in every season, right alongside you.
If I could describe my lifestyle in one word it would be: COZY. I love comfy clothes, comfy spaces, warm drinks, blankets, and listening to my body to provide what cozy thing it needs. I often spend my free time painting, gaming (Nintendo!), traveling, reading, practicing yoga, and experiencing new foods/restaurants.
I’d love to meet you soon!
