Megan Thompson
Megan Thompson, M.A., Ed.S., LAC has over 15 years experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Megan makes compassionate connections with clients to help inspire them to learn more about themselves and how they view and navigate the world. She collaboratively helps clients improve communication in relationships, attain manageable goals, and encounter more peace in their lives. Megan offers a respectful space where there is no judgment, but rather appreciation for the journey of her clients. Behaviors happen for a reason and come from somewhere understandable. Megan works with her clients to pinpoint those reasons and determine action plans to move forward in a more positive direction.
Megan is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and is a certified school psychologist (EdS). She received a BA in psychology from The Catholic University of America, MA in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University, and her certification in School Psychology from Rowan University. She served as a school psychologist on the Child Study Team for 10 years and currently works as a school counselor as well as adjunct professor for undergraduate students working towards a Childhood Studies minor and graduate students working for the MA in Counseling at Stockton University.
Megan has a knowledge base in Child Study Team (IEP’s), 504 Plans, and can help explain reports as well as consult regarding what is reasonable to expect of a school system. She has extensive knowledge in working with people with a variety of mental health as well as learning difficulties. She has also worked with adolescents in Intensive Outpatient programs, with adults on the detox unit, and with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.
She is a current member of the Burlington County School Counselors Association where she has been honored with two nominations for the School Counselor of the Year award in 2022 and 2024. She is a past GUSTO member of the board of New Jersey Association of School Psychologists where she was honored with the NJASP Excellence in Service Award in 2009.
Megan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling to experience new cultures, boating, music, reading, and event planning.
